Château La Couspaude
SAINT EMILION, GRAND CRU CLASSE
This chateau, flagship of the Aubert family for over a century, is located on the heights of the prestigious terroir of Saint Emilion. The 30-year-old vineyard, entirely enclosed by ancient stone walls, covers an area of 7.01 hectares. Formerly calledLa Croix Paute" during the Middle Age, the Château La Couspaude takes its name from the cross, which once marked the path taken by pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
AUBERT, A CENTENARY HISTORY
The Aubert family, one of the last great Bordeaux families, has cultivated vines on the Saint Emilion soil for more than two centuries.
250 years of family heritage
It all started a century back, when Jean-Prosper Robin, influential man and owner of Château Sansonnet, acquired Château La Couspaude. Then bequeathed to his eldest son, André-Marcel, he married in 1919 with Odette Lacoste, who gave him three children, including two daughters. During the war in 1941, their first daughter, Edith, married Etienne Aubert and inherited the vineyard in 1963. Helped by her husband, himself the heir to a know-how in wine transmitted by his forefathers since the 18th century, Edith started a new era for Château La Couspaude.
Harmonious passion and exceptional terroir
The love of the vines, which crossed the ages and generations, became a family tradition. This tradition was naturally transmitted to Edith's three sons: Alain, Daniel and Jean-Claude. They took up the torch and implemented the best cultivation and winemaking techniques in the service of an exceptional terroir.
The New Generation
The last in the Aubert's lineage, Vanessa, Héloise and Yohan, perpetuate this beautiful family story in respect to this epic quest initiated by their grand father, Jean-Prosper Robin.
